My Story: Messy Magic

If I had a magic wand would I change anything? Well, apart from creating a housework fairy, the answer would be, “No!”
I live a magical life in Western Australia with my hubby, five of my six children (one has flown the nest), and our cat. To say that life is busy would be an understatement – it is amazing how flow has a way of shining through chaos. You see, not only do I have a busy family life, I also run two businesses and have recently launched my twentieth book, Mindful Magic.
None of this would be possible if it were not for me being flexible and sometimes messy. Let me explain … I am not a to-do list person, I want to be but it doesn’t happen and I believe it has served me well. It may well be a big part of the reason why a lot of magic comes my way. I always have my peripheral power switched on that allows me to foresee an amazing opportunity when it arrives. I am courageous when it comes to making important decisions and focused until they come to fruition, pursuing each with loving intention makes them happen faster, in the most beautiful way possible.
I have surrounded myself with amazing people who I love working with and who support my visions. I am blessed that for Serenity Press, I found an amazing business partner in Monique, who is the yin to my yang, she keeps things organised for us. Together we truly are a dynamic duo.
Through my new KarenMcDermott.com.au brand, I have the most amazing team of people working with me who do the most amazing job and so I can stay in my genius of being a creative thinker and inspiring others to find their way on their journey to success. I believe that we all walk our own paths in life and sure, we may join others for a walk on their path but it is our own path that matters most in the long run so everything we do should lead back there.
Helping others is something that is genetically built into me, I was always encouraged to follow my dreams and I want everyone to live a magical life with no limitations. One of the sayings I live by is, “Where there is a will, there is always a way” and, one piece of advice that I always add to make sure that what you are pursuing is aligned with your core values is: “The way to know this is by the feeling of Knowing.” You may think that Knowing is a thinking thing, it isn’t! A Knowing is a feeling thing that you will feel at your heart-centre. If you make that feeling your best friend, you will very rarely steer off your path, it serves only you and works for your greater good.
Ultimately, our mindful perspective is where limitations reside. When we become more open to doing things in a way that complements our aspirations for our life then everything will flow more effortlessly and channels that were once blocked seem effortlessly flowing. I believe wholeheartedly that when time and circumstance align magic happens. If we gift ourselves permission to go with the flow and become more actionable when we feel a heart-centred impulse to act, it is then that we will live a life aligned with who we are that will evolve organically. Imagine that perfect life that you can look back on with 100% confidence and say, “This was meant to be.”
I feel blessed that I have the courage to live an authentic life and that I am filled with unwavering passion to inspire and guide others to realise their publishing dreams and personal potential.
Messy works for me because I choose to make it magical and productive.
