1. Please tell us about your business and why you started it.

SHINE Business Women was founded in March 2018, and its aims are to Support, Help, Inspire, Nurture & Empower business women of all age, level, experience and stature throughout the globe. We are passionate about personal and professional development and deliver a number of high-end events – primarily two day conferences with speakers of the highest calibre, and also workshops on a wide range of topics, aimed at professional business women, small business owner, managers, leaders and start-ups.

Our membership program – The SHINE Society – was launched in July last year and delivers a weekly educational short video and worksheet, discounts off all conference, workshop and travel events. We also have strategic partnerships with people such as the Institute of Managers and Leaders, and are SUPER exciting to announce that we shall also be sending a copy of Woman Rising Magazine to all members on a quarterly basis from February.

The international and domestic travel retreats are already a roaring success and something else we offer, to connect and bring together like-minded women, whilst educating them and allowing them time to relax and take time out.

2. Who do you admire in business and why do you look up to them?

I am a fan of business women or any women who are keen to progress and develop so that they are living their best lives and also contributing back to others. We can always learn something from others if we are prepared to listen. It’s hard for me to pick a favourite but I love what Emma Isaacs delivers via Business Chicks and her book is a fantastic read. Over the past twelve months, I’ve also been inspired greatly by Dr Kirstin Ferguson (#celebratingwomen) and Mia Freedman with her Lady Start-Ups as they are always keen to SHINE the Spotlight on others. I’ve always had a secret girl crush on Nigella Lawson too – she is a lady who is poised, confident, will rise to any challenge and has a delectable way with words.

3. What’s one thing you wish you knew about business when you started?

It’s OK to make mistakes, in fact we often learn the most from our failures and mistakes. I am mostly self-taught as a business owner, and have owned my company (Spectacular Events Pty Ltd – parent to SHINE Business Women and others) for over twenty years – every day has been a learning curve, and it’s important to keep on learning.

4. When you look back on your life what do you want people to say about your life/legacy?

People are always struck by my hard-work, determination, resilience and passion but these are all traits that SHINE through when you are doing what you truly love to do each day. I hope that others are inspired by my passion and purpose to SHINE the spotlight on other women and give back to other. SHINE Business Women is my legacy – this showcases everything I wish to share and leave behind, in the hope of helping and inspiring others. I am passionate about serving others, helping business lady’s to progress and to give back – giving back is so important.

5. Why do you believe in the power of #womensupportingwomen?

There is nothing more powerful than #womensupportingwomen! We should all commit to helping, inspiring and supporting others to be the best version of themselves. Coming together, connecting and sharing is the basis to help others achieve and successfully work with others, rather than competing or tearing them down. Let’s all get behind each other, support other women in business and also our local communities.

6. What’s one cool thing we should know about you?

In the late 90’s, I put on a John Farnham concert to celebrate Traveland Pty Ltd’s 30th birthday party – it was HUGE!

7. What’s your dream for your business - or end goal?

My dream for SHINE Business Women is to have a thriving, SHINE’ing community of 5000+ women, all connecting and working together for the betterment of themselves and each other. I would love for all women to know, understand and appreciate their value and truly believe that they can be anything they want to be and achieve anything they set out to do – SHINE Business Women helps them on this path.
